Field Trip Booking Info
Field trips are booked Monday-Friday at either 10:00am or 1:00pm. Price per student is $6, ages 5 & up, with a minimum of 15 in attendance. This includes a 20 min presentation on either Henry the Triceratops or the River Bluff Cave, a guided museum tour and a short nature walk leading to our fossil collection.
1 chaperone per every 16 students is included for students who are middle school and up. 2 chaperone tickets are included per every 10 elementary students. Attendees above those amounts will be charged at the same rate as the students.
A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required, which secures the date, with the remainder due at the time of the trip. This will be deducted from final total at the time of the field trip. Any remainder in excess of the final total will not be refunded if the student count doesn't reach the required amount.
It is recommended for all in attendance to wear close-toed shoes to make the trek to the fossil collection site and to be advised this is an outdoor location traveling about 1/8 mile through wooded areas. So, please dress appropriately and try to bring water bottles in case it is hot on the day of attendance. It is also important to note that the fossil collection site is not handicapped accessible so those with mobility issues may have difficulty participating in this portion of the event. Please keep that in mind when choosing what station chaperones and teachers are placed.
The museum has very limited parking so carpooling or keeping the vehicle count low is requested so the museum can still function as such. If you are arriving by bus please pull into the paved parking spot on the left as soon as you enter the drive. There is a guardrail in front of it to identify the location.
Be advised the fossil collection site requires very attentive chaperones to maintain the safety of all participants. Failure to do so has the potential to result in accidents and injury. The museum is not responsible for these occurrences.
